SRJC Health Sciences department and the HSI STEM Avanzando Initiative present the 2024 Summer Health Careers Institute (SHCI). SHCI (HLC120) is a 3-unit credit-based course for high school students interested in exploring careers in healthcare. SHCI is intended for students entering their senior year of high school and recent high school graduates who will be entering their first year of college.
In this course, students will be introduced to opportunities in healthcare careers through lectures, laboratories, and experiences in clinical settings. Careers include but are not limited to: Nursing, Nursing Assistant, Nutrition, Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technician, and Radiologic Technology. Students will complete various certification training and learn about healthcare job trends, education, and licensure requirements.
The student application will go live on Monday, April 1, 2024. Students will apply directly to the program, no recommendation is required. Students will need to submit all required documents to receive an add code for this course.
