In October 2021, Santa Rosa Junior College was selected to receive a Hispanic-Serving Institutions grant for the District’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and Health Sciences programs. The Department of Education’s Hispanic-Serving Institutions-Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (HSI-STEM) awards will total approximately $4.69 million over a 5-year period. 

The goal of the Avanzando Initiative at SRJC is to support the retention of students, especially those who are underrepresented such as low-income and Latinx, through accessible, community based, student-centered, adaptable programming. There are no requirements to use services other than taking 3+ units in STEM or Health Sciences.
