The Avanzando Learning Community is now accepting students for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The Avanzando Learning Community is a one-year program that allows students to gain additional support while enrolled in English and Math classes designated for the program. Our goal is to help STEM students:
- Transition to Santa Rosa Junior College
- Learn about careers in STEM
- Complete transfer-level Math and English in the first year of college
- Transfer and enroll in a four-year college or university after SRJC
PROGRAM BENEFITS

- Guaranteed English and Math courses while in the Learning Community
- No-cost textbooks for Math and English while in the program
- Possible scholarship opportunity
- Assistance with getting started, selecting classes, and registration
- Designated STEM Counselor
- Local college field trips and cultural events
- University and college transfer preparation
1. Must be willing to attend 1 mandatory orientation each semester
2. Must be willing to meet with the academic counselor twice a semester.
3. Must be interested in pursuing a major/ career in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)
4. Must be willing to enroll in English 1A, Math 25, and Counseling 60 for the Fall semester
5. Must be willing to continue in a cohort model in Spring semester (e.g., English, Math).
